Privacy Policy
Effective Date: November 17, 2025
Our Philosophy
MyOnionSearch is built with privacy at its core. Our goal is to provide a useful service while collecting the absolute minimum amount of information necessary. We do not, and will not, log your personal information, your IP address, or your search queries.
What We Do Not Collect
We believe what you search for is your business, and your business alone. We do not store or log any of the following:
- Your IP address or any network information.
- Your search queries.
- Your browser user-agent or any form of device fingerprinting.
- We do not use cookies or any client-side tracking scripts.
What We Do Collect
The information we store is limited to the public data required to build our search index.
1. Submitted Site Information
When you voluntarily use the "Add a Site" form, we store the information you provide. This is considered public data, as it is used to populate our public search index. This includes:
- Onion Domain (e.g., example.onion)
- Clearnet Domain (Optional)
- Title
- Description
- Tags
2. Crawler-Generated Data
Our automated crawler periodically visits the sites in our index to ensure they are still active. To do this, it stores two pieces of metadata:
- "Last Crawled At" Timestamp: To know when to re-check a site.
- "Failure Count": To track how many times a site was unreachable. This is used to remove dead links from our index.
This data is purely operational and is not tied to any user.
How We Use This Information
The public site information (title, description, etc.) is used to provide search results. The crawler-generated data is used to maintain the health and quality of that index. We do not sell or share any of this data with third parties.
Data Retention
We do not store search logs, so there is nothing to retain.
Submitted site information is retained as long as the site is active in our index. If our crawler determines a site is permanently offline (based on our failure count), it is removed from our database.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post any changes on this page.
